This is an original post in Google Groups AdSense Help! It is reproduced and posted here with permission from the original poster. The night when the post appeared I had to hold onto my chair while reading because I was laughing so hard I almost fell off. When your read this post, remember it is: “One mans opinion” that was seconded by me and the truth is that Google AdSense is NOT the internet, nor should it be the REASON for building a website. I have had my AdSense Account sine May of 2005, I never bothered much with it because I had to much fun figuring out and building websites. This year I added Ads for guests on one of the sites to offset the monthly cost of servers and that is how I ended up on AdSense Help - to kolekt edsense mony -(just kidding). It is how I ended up answering posts there instead. I have met a few “good souls” there who are helping out (as volunteers) answering the drive by questions and facing the “abuse” when an answer don’t fit the “OP’s” view of reality. Enough of the intro, post is long enough as it is and thank you “tjankus” for the re post permission.

I’ve been participating in this group for a while, i even feel like i’ve helped a few people, however i have a problem with excesive comma usage. Ooops, i mean, a problem in understanding why do people are so keen on “kolekting edsense mony”?

I’ve learned html and bits of javascript in my school times. No, they did not teach that in school, but it was a moment i had some time to learn things. I made a few kiddish sites and then forgot them (they actualy were of the quality mr. Vegan does now). It took me about a month to understand i’m no good at websites when i began learning C++. Had better success.

Anyway, i then made my life, but always felt like i need to be online. Any artist should understand that feeling when you know you must “paint”, or “do music” or “create websites” even if you build cars for a living. Mastering the web is what makes a webmarster to become an artist.

I made then a couple sites on what i was interested in. I can still remember the day i was bragging myself for achieving 100 uniques a day. That lasted for a couple of years (local website that had it’s maximum at 200 uv a day).

I also took a try at the Ramen’s way. Droped that after two weeks thanks to my intelligence.

Learned php, mysql to mention, other tens of things, visitors were still coming, when the thought to earn came to my mind.

I applied for adsense and while they were verifying things i placed adbrite/bidvertiser on my site. Had smt. like 5K uniques a month and that made me about $1.5.

I then found out i’m approved for adsense and placed their ads. One week and $10+ using same layout, colors, etc. i used for other networks. Ok, i thought, i can easily increase my traffic ten fold and that would be some pennies for a good brandy at least.

The struggle continues for two months now, and i have achieved $20+ a week. Besides that i know such a huge pile of things of what i’ll need in the near future that many people making the living online do not know/care/understand yet. It’s not necessary for my sites to rocket shoot as long as i’m gaining value as a person.

So, i doubled my earnings in a month. I’d need 25x that to be able to do things my way, and i know how to achieve 8x of that only.

So i must learn lots of things before i achieve $150/week to be able to continue towards $500/week. While if i had that 150 right now i would not be ready to grow tomorrow moring.

Your adsense earnings are what you are. It’s not that even we are stupid to jugde some webmasters for not acting right, we’re actually even more useless to advise writing content to the person who hardl knows how to google for the content he is interested in. I’m a bit drunk, but i feel like we should be tellin the truth anyways.  Not being polite to say “you need more content” instead of “you are useless”. Intelligent people would feel the hurt, but that would make then rethink things. While idiots will remain idiots anyway.

Be straight. I feel like you don’t separate people who started like us, learning from mistakes, from the people who are created to never learn and make mistakes forever.

That may be cruel, but again, it’s how money work. You either learn to create anything useful or not.

And yes, i’m only $20 a week from adsense. It’s not the money.

It’s the attitude.

  1. Hi, I don’t know what to say but like many noobs I would also like to make money with my site. I’m writing this because I am also a bit drunk wright now. Maybe I’ll at least get a reply here. Adsense doesn’t seem to care about the little website makers like me cause I can’t get a reply. I started using adsense like a year ago and at first I earned about 0.5$ per click. But now I get 1c. I can’t seem to attract any traffic to my site, and I also can’t buy advertising because you need a credit card to pay for it and I can’t have one because I am a student therefore I have no job. If you read this far you deserve a medal and visit my site if you have a second to spare. Little traffic is better than no traffic I guess. I don’t expect to get a reply cause I’m used to that. Well have a nice day, best wishes. PS:Great post(=

  2. I know, everyone would like to make money online. “I’m writing this because I am also a bit drunk wright now.” so was tjankus when he wrote this article. I guess from “drunks” and “children” we will hear the truth.

To answer you question (at least I think it’s one in there) on why your earnings are $0.01 now, and why it dropped from $0.05. The economy is not what it was, I think all of us are feeling the pinch, including the advertisers who pay for the ads to be shown.

Write articles, get the articles known. This site is less than a month old and traffic is growing, including search hits. I don’t have ads here and I do not think ‘ll ever put AdSense ads here.

When you leave comments on other blogs (I don’t think it’s smart to do here) leave a link back to your blog where you are either commenting on the blog or that you wrote a similar blog.

Hope this give you some ideas,
    Nils

  3. How is anyone supposed to email you?

  4. And why would anyone need to email me?

Just take a trip to http://groups.google.com/group/adsense-help I’m NilsC there. This is not a blog to help out, AdSense help is where that is done.

If there is something that we need to talk about via email, we’ll figure it out :)

    Nils

  5. haha, yes I know… how do you think I found you here? ;) I’m Rawhide!
